Such Tweet Sorrow

Such Tweet SorrowTwo families in the same town have loathed one another for years. But a boy from one and a girl from the other fall in love - deep, sweet and destructive… Does it ring a bell? Sure it does, but this is not your classic Romeo and Juliet but an amazing project that uses Web 2.0 tools to bring you the story  live and in real time - in modern Britain and on Twitter. Check it out!

28th January

BooksWe went to the ICT Lab and did an interactive lesson on books. If you missed it or didn’t have time to finish you can find it in Bloggin’ Time, the author’s blog.
In About Writing, another blog by the same author, you can find some guidelines to write your book review.
Oh! send your reviews here, not to Bloggin’ Time!

Cultural Diversity

This is an activity in Shall we Blog that you may find interesting. It links with the cultural awareness and manners across the world issues we’ve been discussing in class last week.

New lessons in ELLA

ELLAEnglish Language Lab Asturias is a project I’ve been working on for a couple of years, together with other colleagues/ friends. We have just released the first brand-new lesson of this season: How to tie a tie, which is for Elementary students. We will release 12 new lessons this year, one every 10 days or so, alternating elementary, intermediate and advanced units.
Check it out from time to time, and tell us what you think!

Education

This was what we did in class today. It is a lesson based on the commencement speech Steve Jobs gave at Stanford University.

It also includes an activity based on the song twenty something by Jamie Cullum.

If you couldn’t come you can try the online version here!

English Language Lab Asturias

English Language Lab Asturias or ELLA for short is a project I’m working in with another two English teachers: María Valdés (Reviews, Debates and Resources) and Javier Menéndez (Javier’s English Corner).

The idea behind this project was to provide the courses in the programme: English lessons for young people aged 18-30, with suplementary online materials, but we think, or we hope the materials we are producing can be useful for everyone interested in learning English.

The project is still young: we’ve only been working on it for about four months, but we think it is time to bring it out and let your suggestions, comments and why not, your criticisms, help us improve our future work. We are looking forward to hearing your opinions and we sincerely hope you’ll find it useful!
